Narrative change
Climate change and innovative finance have a narrative problem. Outside of our echo chambers or philanthropy and impact investing conferences, most audiences feel disconnected from or do not fully understand climate change solutions—and the innovative financial models, social entrepreneurs, and private market funds powering them.
Across all forms of media, entertainment, and education, these stories are rarely told in a compelling and consistent way. Despite their vital role in shaping our future, they are not shaping our culture, priorities, and how we invest our time and capital.
Meanwhile, our global economy is at an inflection point: We have $128T in global assets under management, a $50T wealth transfer happening over the next decade, and $600B+ in global strategic philanthropy. Yet billions to trillions of dollars still turn a blind eye to what our global economy and planet need, underinvesting in booming opportunities.
The world falls $5T short annually in financing a resilient, healthy global economy and planet. The dominant narrative says this is a resource problem. But it's largely a narrative problem.
The stories we tell shape
our culture and the
systems we build
For decades, we've built systems around outdated narratives. The financial industry has operated on narratives separating profit from purpose, and underestimating the real cost of climate risk in asset valuations. These stories have created bottlenecks blocking capital and policies from flowing to solutions.
We challenge these dominant narratives across all media—demonstrating what is possible when we use every tool across the capital continuum (from philanthropy to impact, institutional, and public capital) in complementary ways to scale solutions and break down silos. We unpack what innovative finance is and why it's crucial to unlock $12T in GDP growth by 2030.
Here’s how our team has been activating these narrative change initiatives:
-
LEBEC’s signature “Capital Spectrum Convenings” have brought different capital providers (private, public, and philanthropy) together with best-in-class social entrepreneurs and enterprises, alongside media, to showcase how innovative finance works and unpack best practices and lessons learned.
-
LEBEC and its partners—The World We Want Studios and Black Lamp Entertainment—are co-creating a new financing model around commercial films and TV shows that will embed inspiring, creative narratives focused on solutions to global challenges and unlock capital for social entrepreneurs. The model is rooted in The World We Want Studio’s original vision and platform, with our innovative finance and impact expertise supporting its expansion
-
LEBEC will shape strategic thought leadership and media opportunities across key platforms to amplify the conversation on how we must use every capital tool in our toolbox to create a thriving global economy and planet.
