oxford: skoll world forum
From April 1–4, 2025, LEBEC Founder and CEO Alix Lebec and Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives Rafia Qureshi joined social innovators, funders, and movement builders from around the world at the Skoll World Forum in Oxford, UK. This year’s theme—“The world is fractured, but repair is possible. Together we can mend what is broken”—set the tone for days of thoughtful, urgent dialogue on systems transformation and shared accountability.
The Forum spotlighted trust-based philanthropy, shifting power to the Global Majority, ethical storytelling, and how new financial structures can accelerate solutions in the face of climate change, inequality, and fractured institutions.
In the words of Leonard Cohen, shared by Rafia during her reflections: “There is a crack in everything—that’s how the light gets in.” That spirit of hope through imperfection permeated the week’s conversations on unlocking access to capital, mitigating risk, and accelerating collective impact.
While in Oxford, the LEBEC team also deepened its work on the ground—meeting with partners and clients including 4Life Solutions, Saha Global, Instituto Identidades do Brasil (ID_BR), and The Elevate Prize Foundation. These exchanges underscored LEBEC’s commitment to building catalytic capital strategies grounded in proximity, equity, and bold collaboration.
